5 THINGS I HAVE LEARNT SINCE MOVING OUT!

Believe it or not I never used to like fresh flowers until I moved out ~ thanks Elliott for these!

Well, hi there, I thought I would give you a little insight to 5 of the things I have learnt since moving out. Would you believe it’s creeping up to a year since I moved out of my family home… that’s bloomin’ crazy!! You can check out that exciting post here!

It has definitely been a crazy journey and I have most definitely learnt a lot along the way. Hopefully this little post may help some of you out there if you have recently moved out or going to uni this year or just want to relate to some of the things I’ve figured out since living alone!

1: I AM LOVING/OBSESSED WITH CLEANING

Now this is a tricky one because I don’t know if it’s a love of mine or leaning more into an obsession. Even when I lived back at my moms my room was always super tidy. CRUMBS! Ohhhh my god! CRUMBS! I absolutely hate them. I feel like since I have moved out I have not only become obsessed with cleaning products but once I start cleaning I literally can’t stop. It’s so annoying at times, especially when I just want to chill but I can’t until all the jobs are done! Does anyone else do that? Before I know it it’s 11 o’clock and I am hoovering the lounge.

I swapped my autumn cushion covers for something a little brighter ~ they were so affordable!

2: HOMEWARE IS MY LIFE

I would rather buy new homeware pieces than new clothes, that’s where I am at with homeware haha. I don’t know what it is but if I see a cute candle or a fluffy blanket I just feel obligated to buy it! Absolute nightmare but I do love it. I do have to be carful with my spending though otherwise I will overspend on homeware bits that I probably don’t need… like mugs for example! I can’t fit anymore in my cupboard.

3: LIFE IS SO EXPENSIVE

This is one of those things that is really bitter sweet for me. On one hand it’s amazing because I have my own space and the freedom to do what I want. However, on the other hand I am very limited to the things I can do. Right now I can’t afford to go on holiday’s or city breaks which is pretty sad. I just want a tan! Although I know that with time it will get easier, I guess it’s all part of the wonderful things called adulting isn’t it!

This is my first REAL plant ~ It only needs water every 60 days so that’s handy!

4: I AM SO ON IT WITH TURNING PLUGS OFF

The only plug that doesn’t get turned off is the wifi. I think that is pretty good going. It’s crazy how on it you become with turning plug off when you pay the electric bill! We all know how much I love a coffee but as soon as the kettle has boiled the plug is turned off. I wish there was a way to see how much energy I have saved by making these little changes but it’s something I have done from the day I moved in. Let me know in the comments if this is something you do!

5: MY ISSUE WITH MESS/CLUTTER IS REAL

Now I have always been a bit of a clean-freak since before I moved out. It resulted in me and my sister having separate rooms in the end because we are polar opposites when it comes to the meaning of mess lol. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with everything having a place. It may sound daft but having a tidy environment really does help my mental health. I feel so much calmer when everything is tidy and organised.

The list could go on forever with all the things that I have learnt since moving out. It’s crazy how much you have to grow up (especially when I was pretty grown up already haha) when moving out. Not only do you have to learn to say no when you genuinely can’t afford things. You also have to be responsible and organised.

If you have moved out or you are a bit of a clean-freak like me let me know in the comments what you have learnt since moving out? Or how you keep things tidy and clutter free? I would love to learn some new tips and tricks!

This was such an interesting read! I’m probably a good few years of moving out but I just know I’m going to love cleaning and making every looking nice. I think when it’s your own and what you’ve worked hard for you want to make it look good even more! Loved this post xx

Thank you so much Lauren! Omg yes I can imagine you will be! These days I get more excited over a new disinfectant than I do makeup LOL! You really will become more precious when it’s something you have paid and worked hard for 100%! I am so glad you enjoyed it 🙂 xxx
