I think it’s safe to say I was really looking forward to this little getaway. It was time for mine and Elliott’s Anniversary trip to Hoar Cross Hall. Would you believe that me and Elliott haven’t been away since February 2018, this trip was unbelievably overdue! I, myself had never been to a spa and I’m pretty sure that Elliott hadn’t either so it was a first for the both of us.
After a recommendation from a friend we decided to book a 2 night stay at Hoar Cross Hall. It’s a gorgeous stately manor in Staffordshire. It’s home to a luxury spa/sanctuary, gym and 50 acres of grounds to explore. I think it’ safe to say I was pretty excited to chill out and relax.
Once we had checked in we had a little nose around our room, then we got changed and headed for the spa. I couldn’t wait to get into the pool and do some swimming haha! I did tell Elliott I’m like a little goldfish in the water! He wasn’t all that fussed about the pool but more the steam room and the hot tub.
We must have spent a good few hours checking out all the different sections that they had going on. I didn’t realise it would consist of so many different rooms and little relaxation areas. There was numerous hot tubs and pools, saunas, steam rooms, a salt room, water beds, you name it! THEY HAD IT!
After spending some time in the spa we headed into the nearest town to grab some dinner. Of course it would only be right to go for a Nandos for our Anniversary! Mine and Elliott’s first “date” if you will was a cinema trip and a Nando’s so this was perfect! Give me a Nando’s any day and I’ll be a happy girly! No posh meals needed here haha.
Tuesday was our first full day at the spa and we were both pretty excited for breakfast. There’s just something about a hotel breakfast that I love! Probably the fact I haven’t had to cook it or clean up afterwards. After a lovely little full English we headed back to the spa to chill out for the day. I actually sat and read my book in this little egg chair for a while. This was one of my favourite places in the spa! I was falling asleep in there at one point.
We both spent lots of time in the pool and the hot tub throughout the day. It was just so lovely to relax and not have to worry about anything. Even though I had my phone with me, I just wasn’t really interested in it. No endless scrolling through Instagram or Twitter (cheeky plug there), I just chilled out! I also really got into the book I was reading (Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine – which was AMAZING btw) so it was nice to sit and read for a change.
For dinner we decided to stay at the hotel and go to Henry’s one of the 3 restaurants on site. It was a pretty laid back vibe which was nice. We both had the nicest pasta dish. It was a little different for me but very much Elliott’s kind of meal. It was creamy pesto chicken pasta! I also had a side of roast vegetables of course…
During the evening I sat in the bar area next to the ballroom with my laptop. It was lovely to just sit and watch the world go by for a few hours. Elliott came down not long after and joined me. At the moment we are battling it out on Words With Friends so we were playing that before heading back to the room (I’m not all that great at it).
This was a sad day because it was time to go home. We had an amazing few days away and it was a really perfect way to spend our Anniversary. It was so lovely that we both actually wished we were staying for longer. We headed down for our last breakfast before checking out. Before heading back we popped the bags into the car and went for a small walk around the grounds. If the weather had been a little nicer we probably would have hired the bikes they they had available.
Hoar Cross Hall is just over an hour away from us, so it’s not actually that far which was handy. We have both agreed that we will be booking another spa trip for sure. If anyone does have any suggestions of where to stay please do let me know!
Our stay was not only very much needed for both of us. It was lovely to spend some quality time together out of our normal routine and away from any distractions. I really enjoyed just shutting off and taking some time away from my phone which I think is really important to do at times.
Both the hotel and the spa were unreal and I was really happy with the experience overall. I’m very happy that we made the decision to stay for the 2 nights instead of one. Also that we decided on our spa trip rather than just any old weekend away.
It’s safe to say I came home feeling very grateful to have Elliott in my life and very “loved up” haha. He really is my best pal even though he does my head in, I wouldn’t have wanted to sit in a salt room sweating my tits off with anyone else! Feel free to check out this little post I did about relationships if you wanted some “girl talk” tips!
Ps – I apologise that the pictures aren’t my usual standard but as I was in the spa I didn’t want to go snapping everything when people were trying to relax!
